– said at a breakfast organized by UDMR Mureș.

Csibi Attila Zoltán, president of the UDMR from Mureș county, Péter Ferenc, president of the Mureș County Council and MEP Vincze Loránt discussed with journalists this morning about the future of Mureș county and the development opportunities offered by European funds. During the informal breakfast, the importance and stakes of the presence in Brussels were discussed with the media representatives.

In the opinion of Csibi Attila Zoltán, the president of UDMR Mureș, although the European Union is not without mistakes, it must be recognized that it has influenced Romania’s development direction and continues to do so today. He appreciated that the local administrations led by the UDMR in Mureș county took advantage of the opportunities offered by the EU and made significant investments in infrastructure. The president of UDMR Mureș mentioned numerous projects implemented with European funds and, without wanting to be exhaustive, he gave as an example of the efficiency and effectiveness of their use three municipalities: Fântânele, Ernei and Măgherani.

“Although the European Union is rightly criticized, it must be recognized that it has played an important role in the development of the regions,” said Péter Ferenc. He said that today Mureș County owes the EU a series of achievements that it could not have achieved on its own. He emphasized that two of the most important road projects in Mureș county were financed mainly from European funds. The Mureș County Council used over 35 million euros from European funds for the development of Transilvania airport, where projects are still being developed. Important investments were also made in the health infrastructure: in the last 4 years, over 100 million lei were spent on medical equipment for the departments of the Mures County Clinical Hospital, and EU funds were also used for the renovation of two emblematic monuments of Tîrgu Mureș-lui: The Palace of Culture and the Natural History Section of the Mureș County Museum. Péter Ferenc also mentioned as examples of ongoing projects with European funds, the improvement of the drinking water network in Câmpie and Valea Nirajului, as well as the energy renovation of buildings owned by the Mureș County Council.

People are disappointed by many aspects of the decisions made in the European Union, said Vincze Loránt, MEP from the UDMR. He singled out the delay in full Schengen accession, the Commission’s rejection of the Minority SafePack initiative, which was supported by one million European citizens and three-quarters of MEPs, and the import of Ukrainian grain as issues that created a large and justified dissatisfaction. “These decisions must be changed: common sense must prevail and Brussels must take practical, pragmatic and non-ideological decisions. The interests of people, farmers, small and medium enterprises must be put first,” he said. He added that the 5% target of June 9 is an extremely important goal for the Hungarian community in Transylvania, as it will continue to demonstrate that they are a decisive force in Romanian politics and that they can influence decisions in Brussels – in political terms, this it is the boundary between being and not being.

Both Csibi Attila Zoltán and Péter Ferenc and Vincze Loránt agreed that it is important for the country and for Mureș County that our interests are represented in Brussels and that we can use the European funds we are entitled to for what is needed in the community Our. That is why we must be present on June 9, as many as possible, and vote for the UDMR candidates to be present in the European Parliament.
