Mario lives at the “Ecaterina Teodoroiu” National College dormitory and wants to study in the USA

Mario Scurtu, the student from Gorj, who participated in four national Olympiads, won the gold medal in the discipline of physics and received a mention from the Ministry of National Education.

Mario Scurtu qualified for the Mathematics, Physics, Linguistics and Astrophysics Olympiads. In the Astronomy and Astrophysics competition, he was the only participant from Gorj county. At the Mathematics Olympiad, the high school student was awarded the bronze medal.

Mario also explained how the performance managed to qualify for four Olympics: “We are talking about a very great passion for the exact sciences and a very strong aspiration towards this dream, which is correlated with my passion for the Cosmos, so my passion for Physics and later Mathematics as a tool of Physics was born and, then, related disciplines, such as Linguistics, and more specialized, such as Astrophysics”. Mario is a multiple medalist at national Olympics and international competitions, according to Gorj Online.

Living in Lelești commune, he is staying at the “Ecaterina Teodoroiu” National College dormitory, where he says he benefits from all the necessary facilities. The young man expresses his desire to pursue university studies in the United States of America.

“After I finish high school, I would like to continue my studies abroad, because I have a passion for Physics and Astrophysics. I see myself studying and practicing physics. I want to come to the United States of America with the help of a scholarship. I haven’t decided on a university yet, because it will also depend on the results in the coming years. I would like to work in the field of astrophysics or physics. Research in our country, in these fields, is not well funded. I don’t have many opportunities for developmentMario stated.
