The PSD candidate for the Capital City Hall, Gabriela Firea, officially registered her candidacy at the Municipal Electoral Office on Sunday. She was surrounded by the leaders of the PSD, but also by groups of “apaludaci” brought to fade out any protests.

The group of “applause” was not brought for nothing, considering that the well-known protester Marian Morosanu “Ceausescu” appeared on the spot. He was immediately surrounded by both Firea’s supporters and gendarmes, all trying to keep him away from the group of PSD leaders.

“Mr. Ciolacu, are you ashamed to be Moldovan?” “Ceausescu” shouted. At that moment, the individuals surrounding him started clapping loudly to cover him.

The PSD candidate for the Capital City Hall, Gabriela Firea, said on Sunday, when asked if she is still negotiating with Cristian Popescu Piedone and hopes that he withdraws from the race, that each person makes their own decisions, mentioning that she has the phone open, but she take care of the campaign.

“Honestly, each person makes their own decisions. If there is still room, yes, I have the phone open, says Mr. Mihai Tudose, if there is still a way, only your lordship can say, declare. I deal with the campaign, the meetings with the citizens, with the tenants’ associations, with the business environment, with the parents who are dissatisfied that in Bucharest they still learn in three shifts and the children are very tormented, with the parents of the children who had big, big delays in granting incentives that were proposed and voted on my time. I’m also thinking about the adults with disabilities, whose supplement was cut and now, I could say, hypocritically and campaigning, the mayor promises to pay those debts. (…) It is not normal to widow these people for almost four years from what was due to them and now in the campaign, in order not to lose votes, you promise them the sea with salt”, stated Firea, on the occasion of submitting the candidacy.

About the last poll made public, Gabriela Firea said that it is based on the vote of the citizens of Bucharest.

“I recently entered this race. I rely a lot on the people of Bucharest, on those who are dissatisfied with the inefficiency of the current mayor, on those who voted for me and were disappointed three and a half years ago that I did not continue the projects at the Capital City Hall, on my colleagues, the sector mayors, my social-democratic colleagues. And I think that by this I have said everything. I am confident, I am optimistic and I am convinced that the people of Bucharest want a dynamic, efficient mayor who is permanently on the ground, in the middle of the construction sites, who respects the law and the rules and when a problem happens, does not hide in the office, as happened during this period, but to face the problem and, together with the best specialists, to find the solutions”, said Firea.

The current general mayor of the Capital, Nicusor Dan, ranks first in terms of voting intentions for the Bucharest City Hall, followed by Gabriela Firea and Cristian Popescu Piedone, according to an Avangarde poll given to the public on Sunday.

According to the cited source, if next Sunday there were elections for the General Mayor of the Municipality of Bucharest, Nicusor Dan (ADU) would get 31% of the votes, Gabriela Firea (PSD) – 24%, Cristian Popescu Piedone (PUSL) – 20%, Sebastian Burduja (PNL) – 15%, Mihai Enache (AUR) – 7%.
