Justice for animals! Prison for a man who killed a labrador – News from Mures, News Targu mures

A 38-year-old man from the town of Pănet will be put behind bars, after the police from Mures implemented a prison sentence execution warrant. The man was charged with the death of a dog. The culprit will serve a sentence of almost two years.

“On April 25 this year, the police officers of the Band Rural Police Department implemented a warrant for the execution of the prison sentence, issued by the Târgu Mureș Court, in the name of a 38-year-old man from Pănet commune. The person in question has to serve a sentence of 1 year and 9 months in prison, having been convicted for committing the crime of killing animals, with intent, without right, an act provided for and punished by Law no. 205/2004 on the protection of animals“, convey the representatives of IPJ Mureș. He was led under escort and handed over to the Târgu Mureș Penitentiary, in order to serve his sentence.

We mention that, in the present case, the police officers of the Bureau for Animal Protection started investigations on March 3, 2023, after they were alerted to the killing of a canine specimen, the Labrador mestizo breed. Following the specific criminal investigation activities carried out, the police identified the person, namely a 38-year-old man from the Pănet commune, establishing that, on February 22, 2023, he took the animal to a vacant lot in the outskirts of the Berghia town, where he would have hit him several times with a blunt object, causing injuries incompatible with life. The animal’s body was found on March 3, 2023, by its owner.

Based on the administered evidence, the man was detained for 24 hours by the police officers of the Animal Protection Bureau, following the specific activities of documenting the criminal activity, the Public Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Târgu Mureș Court formulating the solution to terminate the criminal prosecution for referral to the chamber judge preliminary with the proposal to refer to court.
