Viorel Hrebenciuc, forced to pay 42,000 euros, unjustified wealth. Final decision in the process with ANI

The former deputy Viorel Hrebenciuc definitively lost, at the High Court of Cassation and Justice, the case with the National Integrity Agency, he being obliged by the judges to pay the sum of 42,000 euros, considered unjustified wealth, reports Agerpres.

In February 2016, ANI announced that it found the existence of an unjustified difference, in the amount of 189,813 lei (42,511 euros), between the wealth acquired and the income made by former deputy Viorel Hrebenciuc.

ANI then notified the Assets Investigation Commission of the Bucharest Court of Appeal, in order to start the control action regarding the patrimonial changes made and the incomes made together with the family of Viorel Hrebenciuc, during the exercise of the deputy’s mandate.

In February 2023, the Bucharest Court of Appeal ordered the confiscation of the sum of 42,511 euros from Viorel Hrebenciuc and his wife, Edit-Letiţia Hrebenciuc, the decision remaining final, after the Supreme Court rejected the Hrebenciuc spouses’ appeal.
