Every year, on April 28, the International Labor Organization celebrates the International Day for Safety and Health at Work, a day to honor the memory of victims of work accidents and occupational diseases. On this occasion, the need for a safe and healthy work environment is discussed, which needs a national culture of safety and health at work, prevention of accidents and occupational diseases in every country.
“The concept of a safe and healthy working environment must be respected and universally applied, at all levels where governments, employers and workers actively participate in its creation, through a system of predetermined rights, responsibilities and obligations, the principle of prevention being a priority . Prevention is less expensive than the costs of managing the consequences of poor working conditions. Achieving safe workplaces requires workers to be trained, informed and allowed to participate in discussions about all aspects of health and safety in their workplace. Through all the actions organized on this occasion, the aim is to make people aware of the activity of prevention and promotion of a culture in the field of OSH that can help reduce the number of cases regarding injuries and deaths caused as a result of events at the workplace”, he stated the head of the Territorial Labor Inspectorate (ITM) Constanta, Marian Becheanu.
