Over 900 children from Sibiu county learned to give first aid from Red Cross volunteers, during “Green Week”

--

Over 900 children from Sibiu County participated in first aid demonstrations offered by the Red Cross. All demonstrations took place within the “Green Week” school program, which took place in most schools.

13 volunteers of the Sibiu Red Cross were present daily, during this week, in nine schools in Sibiu county and performed first aid demonstrations for the little ones.

“In Sibiu, the schools marked the green week, and we were again extremely requested, as every year. With the support of volunteers and employees, we managed to reach more than 900 children from pre-university education units and carry out first aid demonstrations. The little ones were very excited to learn the Heimlich maneuver, resuscitation, how to dress a wound but also how to call the emergency service 112. As always, we are happy to be in the middle of the Sibiu community and thank the volunteers who are with us” , says Raluca Morar, director, Red Cross Sibiu Branch.

The activities took place in a relaxing environment that allowed the children to pay attention and engage in interactive actions that aimed to teach them to keep calm in dangerous situations and to know how to act with first aid measures.

They were delighted to be, by turns, victim and savior, eager to absorb the notions shown by the Red Cross volunteers.
