A Police Officer From Special Actions Died On Easter Sunday After A Driver Hit Him In Full Mo

“Cristian Laurenţiu Jalbă was a fighter in the Special Actions Service of IPJ Galati. For his part, the leader of a police organization sent a message of condolence on the Facebook page.

“Dear friends, here is that a comrade of ours, a wonderful man, a perfect athlete left us today following a tragic accident! We will carry you in our memory and in our souls, our dear friend and colleague Cristian Laurentiu Jalbă! May God protect you”, he wrote.

How the accident happened

The accident happened yesterday, on the first day of Easter, on Marea Unire boulevard in Galați, around 3:00 p.m.

The policeman from Special Actions was on a motorcycle, next to a 34-year-old young woman, and was driving on the seafront in Galati, when a 25-year-old driver turned around without insurance.

“From the preliminary investigations, the police officers from the Galați Road Bureau established that a car, driven by a young man, aged 25, from the municipality of Galaţi, while traveling on the mentioned street in the 1st traffic lane, having the direction of moving from Portului street to Cloșca boulevard, after passing Viva Park and arriving in front of a church, he would have performed the turning maneuver, at which point he would have collided with a motorcycle traveling in the same direction on lane 2 and which was driven by a 41-year-old man from the municipality of Galați”, IPJ Galaţi sent yesterday in a statement.

The policeman was transported to the hospital in an unconscious state, but the doctors could not save him. The passenger on the motorcycle was also taken to the hospital, in order to receive medical care.

“The driver has a valid driver’s license, and when tested with the breathalyzer, the result was negative. In the case, a criminal case was opened for the commission of the crime of culpable bodily harm”, stated IPJ Galați.
