The public space in front of the Military Circle in Sibiu turns into an urban square

--

Sibiu City Hall is preparing the rehabilitation of the public space in front of the Military Circle.

“In the public space in front of the Sibiu Military Circle, a large number of official ceremonies take place every year, organized to mark various holidays or commemorations. It is also heavily trafficked, the Faculty of Letters and Arts and the Faculty of Socio-Human Sciences of Lucian Blaga Sibiu University are located in the area, as well as the secondary headquarters of the City Hall. For this reason, we initiated a project to transform this space into an urban square that would provide an adequate setting for events and ceremonies and that would offer the people of Sibiu a new space for rest and relaxation, right in the center of Sibiu.” said Astrid Fodor, the mayor of Sibiu.

For the implementation of this project, the company contracted by Sibiu City Hall – CON-A Operations – is working on the technical documentation to obtain the construction permit. According to the general concept, the space will be transformed into an urban market, through specific arrangements and furniture. Two rest areas will be built, in stages. These will be created around the two central elements of the square: the “Soldier of all times” monument, which will be preserved and rehabilitated, and the artesian fountain, which will be modernized. The public lighting in the square will also be replaced with an efficient one, with LED lamps.

After obtaining the construction permit, Sibiu City Hall will contract the execution of the works.
