We are in the middle of the period, April 23-30, for submitting candidacies to the electoral offices. Some have already done it, like the mayor of Caracal, Ion Doldurea, or the mayor of Balș, Cătălin Rotea, others are ready to do it. What caught our attention in the first place, reading the long list of PSD candidates for mayors in Olt county, refers to a series of new names, instead of the already established ones.

As is known, County O is divided into 112 administrative-territorial units (UATs), of which more than 100 are administered by social-democratic mayors. The president of the PSD Olt and, at the same time, of the CJ Olt, Marius Oprescu, mostly kept the political structure resulting from the previous elections, most of the mayors in office being on the current PSD list, prepared for the elections in June 9 ac Draws attention, as I said, to a number of new names, which means that, where it was the case, the PSD county leadership had no qualms about replacing those who stood out less in the administration with the success of the town halls led by them.

To take it in alphabetical order, the first lamb sacrificed (no allusion to the upcoming Easter holidays) is Marian Ivan, the mayor of Brebeni. He will run in his place Cîrstea Floreaformer Chief Commissioner of Police, currently a successful farmer in his native commune. “Brebeni deserves more“, is the slogan that contains the essence of his electoral program, by virtue of which he hopes to change the face of the commune for the better.

In Bucinișu, he is running Eliodor Florinwith thorough knowledge of administration, seconding as deputy mayor Radu Miltiade, mayor of Bucinișu since 2008 and who, it seems, willingly stepped aside, considering that it is time to deal more closely with society its agricultural.

In Corbu, the long-serving senior, Constantin Dinuț, among the oldest mayors in office since 1989, left the helm of the ship in the younger hands of the vice mayor Ion Daniel Balanescu.

Another long-serving senior, Aurel Bondrescu, longtime mayor of Dobrun commune, believes that, in the hands of his son, the administration scepter will shine much more beautifully and firmly. So, he is running for Dobrun Cristian Bondrescu.

In Gostavătu, Marius Bucădeputy mayor since June 2019, is credited with the best chances of winning the City Hall, he already distinguished himself in the position of mayor, as a replacement for Marius Ștefan Popescu, after his conviction.

A terrible accident, which happened on the very day of the Nativity, last year, ended the life of the mayor of Grădinari, Mihai Ioana, regretted by all the inhabitants of the commune for the devotion shown towards them. The current candidate for mayor, Peter Cristian Călinahas so far distinguished himself as a successful businessman and is determined to put his entire professional and life experience at stake for the prosperity of the commune.

Constantine Enache, the PSD candidate for Leleasca City Hall, is part of the third wave of mayors, vice mayors and local councilors who switched to PSD, coming from other political fields. The mayor Vasilića Selescu has not yet convinced the leaders of the PSD county branch, instead the vice-mayor Constantin Enache is preferred.

In Mihăesti, the vice mayor Peter Cora he gave up the PNL and chose the PSD team, its support giving him the guarantee that he will be able to start the necessary investments for the development of his commune.

Christian Alexandru Nita is the Olt PSD candidate for Morunglav Municipality. Although he is only 37 years old, he can be a good administrator of his commune since the company he runs is a successful one. He has to fight, however, with the current mayor Nicolae Carămizaru, who, unlike many who pretended to be full-blooded liberals, remained consistent, among the last “Mohicans” in the PNL camp.

Tudor Udrea, the mayor of the Obârsia commune since 1996, also suffered an absurd and premature death (64 years old), killed by an agricultural combine. The mayor’s secretary will run for the position of mayor in this commune, Florin Adrian Roman.

He will run for Priseaca Cătălin Constantin Drugădeputy mayor in the mandate of the current liberal mayor, Ion Ioniță.

Another mayor who left us during his term, going to a better world, was Vergil Sârbu, who lost his battle with a relentless illness. He is running for the seat of mayor in Rotunda commune Dumitru Gavrilaadviser at the National Land Improvement Agency (ANIF).

Constantin Tudorel Dădulescu is the Olt PSD candidate for the mayor’s office of Scărișoara. He will have to fight a formidable opponent, in the person of the current mayor, the liberal Dan Iacob.

An even more formidable opponent will have to face the PSD candidate for the Studina mayor’s office, Gabriel Burda. The current mayor here, since 2008, Marian Vasile, is one of the pillars of Oltean liberalism, of great resistance in the maelstrom to which so many so-called liberals have fallen victim.

He will run for Stephen the Great Rudi Buga, PNL vice-mayor, switched to PSD. Grateful, PSD preferred him instead of Viorel Marius Măgureanu, mayor since 2004. Rudi Bugă is 55 years old, economist by profession. He worked in the Oltenia Energy Complex, and for the last 25 years he has been performing in the private sector.

Marian Negrilafter losing the 2020 elections, in Traian commune, is trying to win this year’s.

At Valea Mare, the engineer Gabriel Dragnea, 43 years old, announces himself as the candidate with the best chance of winning. Here, from 2016, George-Daniel Iancu was mayor, until May last year when, without asking our permission, on his own, he found himself crossing the border into a better world, at only 45 years old. The affairs of the town hall were taken over by the vice-mayor Vergica Militaru, in a team with the local councilor, the current candidate, Gabriel Dragnea.

In Vădăstrita, the current mayor, Marin Ciupitu, from the PNL, has been in office since 2012. He is still on high terms and does not understand how the PSD candidate can bring him down, Paul Ciuca.

Ion Șofaru has been leading Văleni City Hall since 2012, with notable results, which would have entitled him to continue. He chose to withdraw and propose the deputy mayor as a candidate for the position of mayor in Văleni Ion Beluwith whom he made a good team, throughout the three consecutive mandates.

Marius Florin Treanta, in Vulturești, is determined to follow in his father’s footsteps and perform in the administration of the commune. He is already initiated into the secrets of the administration, as deputy mayor, in a team with the former deputy mayor, Ion Dumitrana, who, after the death of the late Gheorghe Treanța, took over the duties of mayor.

On April 24th, the list of PSD candidates for the Olt County Council was also submitted to the BEJ Olt headquarters. At the top of the list, of course, it is Marius Oprescuthe president of PSD Olt, who is running for a new term in the position he has exercised so successfully so far, that of president of CJ Olt.
