There is great despair in Cluj because of the exorbitant housing prices, regardless of whether we are talking about rent prices or the apartments that are being sold. People are looking at different possibilities to purchase an apartment. While some prefer to move to Florești, others are thinking, more jokingly, more seriously, of looking for a partner to split the installments at the bank, so they can stay in the city.

“Is it a bad time to buy an apartment in Cluj? I keep looking at the market and seeing incredible prices, nothing new. I was thinking of an apartment in Baciu or Florești, because the prices seem to have remained ok there. Is it a bad time to buy? I’m really afraid to take out a loan, I’m 25 years old and I’m single and I plan to pay the installment myself, but sometimes I think that maybe I’ll struggle and not afford it. I’d like something up to 65k max and I’ve seen some ok apartments at that price. Do you know which are the best streets in Florești? I saw Heroes, Under the Citadel, Flowers. I’m right? What do you recommend I do? Because I wouldn’t want to spend my life in rent.” reported a young woman who lives in Cluj on the reddit.com social media platform.

The subject sparked a heated discussion, a young man even stating that at one point he thought of looking for a partner with whom he could share the installments at the bank for an apartment in Cluj:

“I am also in your situation. I was thinking of posting an ad (more jokingly, more seriously). Boy, age, occupation, etc. I am looking for a partner with the aim of sharing the rent on the apartment. At something like 60-70 k euros, I can pay the installments myself, but why not share and get an apartment directly in Cluj or a house next door? Marriage directly on a business basis”, commented a Cluj resident.

Florești – an option increasingly considered by young people from Cluj who cannot afford to buy an apartment in the city

“I was stuck in your situation a few months ago. What I can tell you is that there is no right time to buy and that if you think too much, you won’t solve anything. I stayed in Mănăștur before, so I used to take the bus to work and back. In total, it took about 40 minutes (only by bus), after which another 10 on foot. I moved to Florești, I also changed my schedule, which is true (I leave home at 6:30), but I drive 25 minutes to Mărăști… it turns out that now I have more free time. For me, who works physically, it is much better now, back again, a trip takes about 35 minutes (by car).

About the quality of life, everyone who tells you how bad Florești is lives in Cluj or bought an apartment when the square meter was 1000 euros… You have everything you need in Florești. Recently I needed a doctor and surprise… the clinic is 5 minutes from me and the doctors are top 10. If you work from home it’s even better. Don’t take after others, put things in balance yourself and if everything looks good on paper, you’re fine. Someone who has a rate of 3000 lei for 13 years will tell you. The only thing to take care of is the quality of the block, and possibly the neighbors, the last thing you want is to annoy people and not be able to leave because of the clause regarding the alienation of the building in the contract with the bank. Eventually, if you decide to buy something, mention to the bank that you want to access the credit, but on the condition that the property can be rented (legally, with a contract with ANAF) in case another job opportunity arises, and you want to move”, reported a resident of Cluj who moved to Florești.

“I don’t understand, why do you want to stay in Cluj? It seems illogical to me. If the prices are very high and on top of that you also work remotely, why would you choose to stay in this city that offers you nothing more than other cities, only dreams and illusions”, someone else commented.
