Timișoara City Hall announced that the investment for the construction of the new building of the Waldorf High School is on schedule. More than three-quarters of the work has been completed and the investment is planned for full completion this summer.
The builder installed the large windows. The building has two levels, ground floor and first floor, and includes spaces where almost 450 students will study. In a few weeks, the facade will be ready.
“In a year and a half we built a new building at the Waldorf High School, with bright classrooms where the children will have modern study conditions. After the completion of the works, we will equip the school with furniture and equipment”, said Mayor Dominic Fritz.
The Waldorf investment includes both the construction of a modern building and its endowment with IT equipment, modern teaching materials and specific materials for documentation, to increase access to information and create the necessary bases for the use of new technologies. Contracts have been signed for all equipment lots, and students will enjoy new benches and chairs, modern lockers, equipment for volleyball, basketball, handball, gymnastics, as well as a fully equipped computer lab. The value of the purchases is 1.2 million lei.
The new building body will have 8 classrooms, 12 laboratories, workshops and offices, a large multifunctional room, 2 afterschool rooms, sanitary groups, changing rooms, storage rooms, central thermal room, circulation halls and access spaces. The new building is equipped with access adapted to the needs of people with disabilities.
The total value of the investment is 29,794,169 lei (VAT included), and the execution works are carried out by NEDEX GRUP SRL. The construction site started in October 2022. The investment was financed through the Regional Operational Program (POR) 2014-2020 and is on the list of financing for the Western Regional Program (PRV) 2021-2027. Timișoara City Hall wishes to contract the financing for the completion of the investment, for to absorb a total of 13.6 million lei, European funds. Thus, the reception for the building will start with the conclusion of the new financing contract.
