Green Week at Kronstadt Forestry

Green Week is the best opportunity for students to learn more about nature. And, as Brasov is a very blessed area from this point of view, all children can go to various places and learn a lot of interesting things. Those who choose the nursery of the Kronstadt Local Public Forest Authority are among the luckiest. In addition to the fact that it is located in the forest, but very close to the city, the directing specialists tell schoolchildren about the flora and fauna of the forests of Braşov, adapted to their age.
“We have organized a small circuit in which they will learn about the fauna of hunting interest – about the species of animals that grow in the forests of Braşov – we will take them for a walk among some forest species that are also specific to the forests of Braşov. it’s an important matter because they learn new things about animals or they often teach us some things”, said Mihai Zup, coordinator of the Green Week education activity at RPLP Kronstadt.
For the little ones, it was two hours in which they felt very good, but they also learned important things, such as the fact that the bear does not hibernate or how to react in case they meet Santa Martin in the forest.
“I found out that the bear, if you pretend to be dead, can attack you. I like animals and I learned a lot about them from my mother”, said a little boy. “I saw many wild animals in Romania. I found out that the bursa hibernates, like the hedgehog, but that the bear does not hibernate, as was previously believed”, said a little girl. “I like the bear because it is strong. If you meet the bear, you must make noise, but not very loud. If you pretend to be dead, it scratches you,” said another little boy.
The teacher of the little ones in the preparatory class at Secondary School number 14 gets involved not only during regular classes, but also in finding activities that are educational and, at the same time, fun for the students. “We chose this activity because we are running Green Week this week. Children are curious, eager to absorb all the information they receive, they answer questions, they want to know as many things as possible. They seem to like it.” said teacher for primary education Oana Corbu, Secondary School number 14 Braşov, the class teacher.
At the end, in addition to the nice time spent in the nursery and the information provided, the students also received a book with animals and were made “Little Foresters”, with the help of a badge and a scarf.
