Both the woman and the organizers of the “world championship”, which is not an official sporting event, confirmed that the photo shows a person from Sweden, not Ukraine.

“It’s extremely tiring, ha-ha. A Ukrainian woman wins the World Sex Championship!” one Facebook user wrote in a mixture of English and Visayan, a language spoken in the southern Philippines.

The post, shared on April 13, 2024, featured an image of a woman shouldering a blue and yellow flag standing next to a man.

The photo caption went on to say that this competition, which allegedly took place in Spain, was stopped due to some participants “suffering injuries”, while others were disqualified for doping.

“In the final, the men’s world champion was Capitano Erik from Italy, and in the women’s, the Ukrainian Olesia Prykhodko (known by the stage name Naousi Love),” the statement added.

A modified version of the photo with the face of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the woman’s body was published by pravda-en.com.

The site belongs to a coordinated network for Russian propaganda in Europe and the United States, according to Viginum, a French government agency that fights foreign digital interference.

Milena Yakimova, a sociologist at the Foundation for Human and Social Studies in Bulgaria, told AFP that claims portraying Ukraine as a decadent nation show a change in Russia’s approach to anti-Ukraine propaganda, after its failure to influence opinion public from Bulgaria.

She added that this approach applies to claims about Ukrainian women, with the message being: “They are depraved and corrupt and they are here to steal our men.”

The claim circulated in similar posts in several countries causing anti-Ukrainian sentiments in Bulgaria.

User comments suggested that some of them believed that the post was conveying genuine information. “Oh god forbid,” one user tweeted, while another noted: “They are so shameless.”

Swedish, not Ukrainian

Searches to establish the authenticity of the photo revealed that the image was originally published on the website of an organization called the “Swedish Sex Federation”

“We proudly announce the winners of the first World Championship of Sex 2024,” reads a page that publishes the picture and names of the winners. The woman in the fake post was also identified as Nausi Love from Sweden.

The post shared a link to the official X account of LiveSexHouse, the competition’s streaming partner – where a version of the fake photo could be seen.

On her website, Nausi Love says she is a professional actress, stating to AFP that she is of Swedish origin.

“I am not Ukrainian or Russian. I have no Ukrainian or Russian roots anywhere in my family history. I only have Swedish citizenship. And I have Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian and Jewish roots,” said Nausi Love, who flatly denied that her real name is Olesia Prykhodko.

The Swedish Sex Federation also reported to AFP on April 25, 2024: “Nausi Love is a Swedish citizen.”

An analysis of the photo in the fake posts revealed that the way it was cropped made it look like Nausi Love was actually wearing a Ukrainian flag, which has the same colors as the Swedish flag.

The Swedish Sex Federation describes itself as “the only organization in the world that practices sex as a sport” and says it was the first in the world to organize a World Sex Championship.

But the Swedish Sports Federation does not recognize the Swedish Sex Federation, which means that this “competition” cannot officially be considered a sport.
