The band “Mihai Raicu” celebrates 55 years!

Article edited by cristina.rusuApril 24, 2024, 1:41 p.m

A homogeneous and well-welded troupe of actors, a theater section for teenagers, more than 60 volunteers of all ages who get involved in the theater’s performances and events. These are the most important achievements of the Satmara theater, beyond the performances scheduled on the stage every year.

“Mihai Raicu” band celebrates these five and a half decades with a theatrical micro-season from April 25 to 28, with special guests, book launches, colloquiums and commemorative ceremonies.

Director Ovidiu Caița, the band’s artistic director, gave an interview to our radio station, you can listen to it here:

Through the Decisions of the Council of Ministers no. 64 of 1968, followed by Decision no. 633 of the Executive Committee of the Satu Mare County People’s Council from October 29, 1968, the institution of performances was established, which from then on was called Teatrul de Nord, with two sections: Romanian and Hungarian.

The first general director of the Northern Theater is the actor Ács Alajos and the first artistic directors are Csíky András for the Hungarian section and Mihai Raicu for the Romanian section.

Three months after the establishment of the Northern Theatre, on January 24, 1969, the Romanian section opens its first season with the show “Outlaws” by Victor Eftimiu, directed by Mihai Raicu.
