The representatives of ISU Sibiu announce the death of reserve colonel Florian Chioar, commander of the Sibiu Fire Brigade during 2001-2004 and Chief Inspector of ISU Sibiu, during 2004-2008. He died on Wednesday morning, at the age of 71.

“A man dedicated to the military career and the fire brigade, a respected leader, who made a significant contribution to the evolution of the Sibiu fire brigade in the more than 35 years of activity,” characterizes him from ISU Sibiu.

Florian Chioar was born on July 20, 1953 in the village of Sângătin, Apoldu de Jos commune, Sibiu county. He started his military career as a young man, in 1972, when he attended the Military School of Fire Officers from Sibiu, and in 1975, after graduation, he received the first military rank of lieutenant. During the 35 years of his military career, he held the following positions:

– 1975-1978 – platoon commander at the Sibiu Fire Officers School
– 1978-1979 – platoon commander II at the Sibiu Fire Brigade
– 1979-1980 – deputy company commander and then promoted to company commander
– 1980-1982 – student at the Military Academy – Faculty of Combined Arms
– 1982-1988 – specialist officer I (operations) at the Fire Command
– 1988-2001 – Chief of Staff at the Sibiu County Fire Brigade
– 2001-2004 – commander of the Fire Brigade of Sibiu county
– 2004-2008 – Chief Inspector of the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations “Capt. Dumitru Croitoru” of Sibiu county

Throughout his career he was rewarded for outstanding merit with the following distinctions:

– “Military Merit” medal, 2nd class, 1981
– “Military Merit” 1st class medal in 1986
– Order “Military Merit” class III 1995
– Order “Military Merit” 2nd class 1995
– Honorary Badge in Army Service for officers – 25 years of activity
