The Holy Light was lit, on Saturday, in Jerusalem, and was brought to Bucharest by the Superior of the Settlements of the Romanian Patriarchate at the Holy Places, Father Archimandrite Teofil Anăstăsoaie. UPDATE 14.40 According to the Basilica, the Holy Light was received at the Tomb of the Lord in Jerusalem on Saturday at 2:13 p.m.
The ceremony of receiving the Holy Light was officiated starting at 13:00 by the Patriarch of Jerusalem, Theophilus III.
The representative of the Romanian Patriarchate, Archimandrite Teofil Anăstăsoaie, goes directly to the Tel Aviv airport to transport the candle with the Holy Light to Bucharest.

The diocesan centers, through the archdiocese, will distribute the Holy Light to each parish within them, the press office of the Romanian Patriarchate informed.
The Holy Light will be taken, by means of a delegate of the Metropolis of Moldavia and Bucovina, from Bucharest to Chisinau, where it will be offered to the parishes of the Metropolis of Bessarabia.

The tradition of bringing the Holy Light from Jerusalem was inaugurated by Patriarch Daniel in 2009.
