Mario Scurtu, a 10th grade student at the “Ecaterina Teodoroiu” National College in Târgu Jiu, is a multiple medalist at the national Olympics and international competitions.
Mario Scurtu qualified for four national Olympics.
At the Mathematics Olympiad, the high school student won the bronze medal, and on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, he participated in the Physics Olympiad, where he hopes to achieve a very good result.
“The subjects were of medium level. They were not difficult at all, although there were also some difficult ones. I hope to get a good result. 469 students from grades VI-XII participated,” Mario reported.
He will participate in the “barrages” at the Physics Olympiad and the Astrophysics Olympiad at the end of May, which will take place in Iasi.
“We are talking about a very great passion for the exact sciences and a very strong aspiration towards this dream, which is correlated with my passion for the Cosmos, so my passion for Physics and later Mathematics as a tool of Physics was born and, then, related disciplines, such as Linguistics, and more specialized, such as Astrophysics,” said Mario, according to Adevarul.
Mario is a multiple medalist at national Olympics and international competitions.
“After I finish high school, I would like to continue my studies abroad, because I have a passion for Physics and Astrophysics. I see myself studying and working in physics.(…)
I would like to work in the field of astrophysics or physics. Research in our country, in these fields, is not well funded. I don’t have many opportunities for development”, Mario Scurtu also said.
