Gabriela Firea, PSD candidate for Bucharest City Hall, criticized Mayor Nicușor Dan on Wednesday after a major breakdown of the Termoenergetica company, due to which entire neighborhoods were left without hot water. Firea accused Dan of not modernizing the heating system and of not attracting the available European funds.
“Half of the Capital’s residents have reasons to say “Thank you” to the current general mayor! Wash with water heated in a kettle! 3,700 blocks, most in sector 6, do not have hot water! It’s still cold outside! It is one of the biggest breakdowns in recent years, and two of the four CETs have stopped. What does the general mayor do during this time? What knows best when a crisis occurs: nothing!”, Firea wrote on a social network.
Firea was appointed the PSD candidate for the Bucharest City Hall on Monday. She was also mayor of the capital in the 2016-2020 mandate and lost even to Nicușor Dan.
“It’s good, however, that it boasts kilometers upon kilometers of old pipes replaced, with construction sites opened with the European money worked by us. So that they don’t lie everywhere that I didn’t do anything, I leave here the real figures, verifiable by anyone interested:
From 2016 to 2020, 304 km of network were modernized with money from the local budget, of which 67 km from the primary network, 237 km from the secondary network. With two years the company insolvent and another two years with the city hall’s budget cut in half!
Nicușor Dan would do better to remind the people of Bucharest who do not have hot water who worked for the 300 million euros of European funds, when the contract was signed and why he started the works only after three years!”, wrote Firea.
Nicusor Dan did not have any public reaction after the accident that occurred on Tuesday evening.
A major breakdown in the heating network operated by Termoenergetica took place on Tuesday evening, as announced by ELCEN Bucharest.
“A major breakdown occurred on Tuesday, around 18:00, on the heating network operated by Termoenergetica, in the section served by CET Bucharest West. This affected the activity of the thermal power plant, causing the shutdown of the equipment in operation in CET Bucharest West due to the massive water losses from the heating network”, the cited post states.
