PHOTO / Almost 500 kilograms of hookah tobacco and dozens of liters of counterfeit detergent, found by the police in Harghita. Criminal file for economic crimes

On April 22, 2024, the policemen of the Economic Crime Investigation Service of the Harghita County Police Inspectorate, in the continuation of the investigations, in a criminal file regarding economic crimes, executed 5 home search warrants, issued by the Odorheiu Court Szekler, at the home of some individuals and at the headquarters of a legal entity, in the municipality.

Following the searches, the police discovered and confiscated, in order to continue the investigations, 492 kilograms of hookah tobacco, 6 liters of ethyl alcohol, 26 liters of household products (detergents), likely to be counterfeited, accounting documents, such as and cell phones and a record book.

A 43-year-old man was detained for 24 hours.

As regards the detection of the 26 liters of household products likely to be counterfeited, the investigations are continuing, in terms of committing the crime of putting into circulation a product bearing an identical or similar brand to a registered brand for identical or similar products, according to the provisions of Law no. 84/1998 on trademarks and geographical indications.
