Galați hosted, on March 30, the county stage of the national competition “I know and apply – safety and health at work can be learned from school desks”, organized by the Galati Territorial Labor Inspectorate, in partnership with the Galati County School Inspectorate. The competition is organized in order to promote among the youth the discipline “Safety and health at work”, in collaboration with specialists from the Labor Inspectorate, the territorial labor inspectorates, the county school inspectorates, the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical College and the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University , both from Iasi.
According to ITM Galați, the competition on safety and health at work enjoys, year after year, an increase in students’ interest. This year, at the 10th edition of the competition, which took place at the “Carol I” Technological High School, the largest number of participating students (70) from 13 high schools in Galați county was registered.
The theoretical test of the competition was held simultaneously in all the high schools in the country, the students having access to an online platform on which they competed. The results of the theory test were given immediately after completion. The practical test proved the practical knowledge that any employee applies in the production process.
The competition, in which 70 students participated, organized in 35 teams, was held in five sections, and high school students from Galata were among the winners. The teams of students who were awarded the First Prize were from the following high schools: Technological High School “Carol I” in the Theoretical Lower Cycle and Theoretical Upper Cycle sections, Technological High School “Aurel Vlaicu” in the Technological Higher Cycle and Vocational Education sections and the Technological High School ” Paul Dimo” in the Lower Cycle Technology section.
The ten students, the first placed in each section, will participate, between May 11-19, in the national stage of the contest, in Iași. “Until then, several companies from Galati have shown their willingness to present to our awardees the practical applicability of theoretical knowledge in the field of safety and health at work”, notes ITM.
