As a result of the activities regarding the prevention and combating of illegalities in the fishing field, carried out by the policemen of the “Danube Delta” Police Service between April 2 and 14, 2024, more than 1,300 kilograms of fish, of various species, 280 fishing tools were confiscated , three cars, a boat and a boat engine.

More precisely, 4 actions were carried out and 30 controls were carried out, 63 people were registered, 31 boats and 16 cars were checked, 9 offenses provided for by GEO 23/2008, regarding fishing and aquaculture, and 6 people were found they were taken to the police headquarters for investigation.

The value of the confiscated goods is estimated at 105,000 lei.

In the latest newsletter issued by the Romanian Police, there are also some examples:

– On April 10, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., on the Sfântu Gheorghe arm, in the area where the Danube River flows into the Black Sea, the policemen from the “Danube Delta” Police Service identified two men, shortly after would have been commercially fishing for mackerel in the Black Sea, catching 322 kilograms of fresh mackerel fish.
The two men could not present the documents regulating the commercial fishing activity, at the request of the police.
Following the checks carried out, the police established the fact that the two are authorized commercial fishermen, for which the measure of contraventional sanctioning was taken.
The entire amount of fresh mackerel fish was confiscated and handed over to a specialized company for recovery.

– On April 8, 2024, at 9:30 p.m., on the Danube, near the town of Pătlăgeanca, Tulcea county, the policemen from the “Danube Delta” Police Service detected a man in flagrante delicto, while he was fishing with a net of textile thread for catching mackerel, having caught 36 kilograms of fresh mackerel fish, not being authorized for commercial fishing and while a ban on mackerel fishing was in place.
He used a boat equipped with an engine, unregistered and unlicensed for commercial fishing, for the fish poaching activity.
The boat, the engine and the fishing gear were raised, in order to continue the research.
The amount of fish was confiscated and handed over to a specialized company for recovery.
In the case, a criminal case was drawn up.

– On April 3, 2024, at around 12:30, in the Municipality of Tulcea, on Atelierol Street, Tulcea County, the policemen of the “Danube Delta” Police Service stopped a car, driven by a woman, for control.
Following the control, 114 kilograms of fresh carp fish, owned and transported without legal documents, were discovered in the trunk of the car.
The car was lifted, in order to continue the investigations.
The amount of fish was confiscated and handed over to a specialized company for recovery.
In the case, a criminal case was drawn up.

– On April 4, 2024, around 3:55 p.m., in the town of Sinoie, Constanța county, on the DC78 communal road, near the European road E87, the policemen of the “Danube Delta” Police Service stopped for control a van, driven by a man.
Following the checks carried out, the police found that the person behind the wheel of the van allegedly possessed and transported without legal documents of origin 604 kilograms of fresh fish of various species (295 kilograms of mackerel and 309 kilograms of crucian carp).
The van was towed away for further investigation.
The amount of fish was confiscated and handed over to a specialized company for recovery.
In the case, a criminal case was drawn up.

The “Danube Delta” Police Service is the specialized structure of the Romanian Police, which coordinates the duties of the Romanian Police, on the territory of the “Danube Delta” Biosphere Reserve, respectively: the Danube Delta, the Murighiol – Plopu salt marshes, the Razim-Sinoe lagoon complex, The maritime Danube up to Cotul Pisicii, the Isaccea-Tulcea sector with the flood zone, the Black Sea coast from Braţul Chilia to Capul Midia, inland maritime waters and the territorial sea.
