The representatives of the local public administration in the city of Ovidiu have completed the construction works for the mortuary chapel of the city, located in the new Orthodox cemetery. This project with a social purpose, made from the local budget, will be used by the parishes of Ovidiu, Poiana and Culmea, making available free of charge a space specially designed for vigils, a modern kitchen, fully equipped with electrical appliances and crockery, a served table for 60 people, equipped with furniture and sanitary facilities.

The chapel has a total built area of ​​225 square meters and is composed of: vigil space, dining room, kitchen, multifunctional spaces, technical room and access halls. Outside, the pedestrian and vehicular walkway was made, decorative trees and lawns were planted, urban furniture was installed and a candlestick was built.

The consecration of the chapel will take place on Thursday, April 4, 2024, starting at 12:00, in the presence of His Highness Teodosie, the Archbishop of Tomis and the priests from all the parishes on the UAT Ovidiu radius.

“We started the construction of this project last year, from our own budget, and this year we completed the work, we took care of the interior fittings, the arrangement of the yard and the green spaces. Through this investment, we come to the support of the residents who are going through difficult times, everything being made available for free”, said George Scupra, the mayor of Ovidiu.
