Revenues of over 7 million lei and a historic profit of 2.3 million lei for BTarena in 2023

--

Sala Polivalentă SA, the company that manages BTarena in Cluj-Napoca, the largest multi-purpose hall in Romania, reported a gross profit of 2.3 million lei for 2023, an increase of over 35 percent compared to 2022.

The institution’s total revenues exceeded 7 million lei, an increase of over 27 percent compared to the previous year. The figures come in the context in which, last year, more than 3 million lei were invested in BTarena to transform the lighting system into a modern one, comparable to those existing at the arenas in Munich or Barcelona, but also in the addition of electric charging stations from the underground car park and equipping it with an intelligent license plate reading system.

Sala Polivalentă SA, the company that manages BTarena’s activity, continues its upward trajectory on the profile market in Romania and consolidates its leading position among multifunctional halls.

According to the financial report for 2023, the profit obtained was over 2.3 million lei, an amount that turns it into the most profitable profile institution in Romania. The figures are due to record revenues, over 7 million lei, and here a 27% increase compared to 2022 was recorded.

“2023 is another year in which Sala Polivalentă SA is in profit, and the figures place us in first place in terms of profitability among multifunctional halls in Romania. This increase in revenue and profit is largely due to the more than 100 events organized in BTarena last year and the number of spectators who crossed our threshold, the degree of occupancy at many events exceeding the 90% threshold,” said Ionuț Rusu, director of BTarena.

In 2023, BTarena hosted more than 100 events of all kinds, including “U”-BT matches in the BKT EuroCup groups, with an average of almost 7,000 spectators/match, five sold-out concerts by the famous violinist André Rieu which brought over 40,000 people, in total, but also an edition of the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship reserved for juniors. In addition to these, the public had the opportunity to see Gabriela Ruse play the final of the Transylvania Open 2023, designated the best WTA250 tournament in the world, but also to participate in the concerts at the Galaxy stage, within the UNTOLD Festival.

More than one million spectators crossed the BTarena threshold in 2023 according to the institution’s estimates. In 2024, the year in which BTarena celebrates 10 years since its inauguration, management expects the number of events to increase especially in scale, not just in number.

“If we look at the agenda now, we see that most weekends are either booked, or there is a reservation request already registered in the system. We already have confirmations for concerts by important artists from abroad, but also for sports competitions at World Cup level, as happened last year. We want that, starting from 2024, BTarena will maintain its status as an important player for the market in the region and become a real competitor for similar halls in Budapest, Zagreb or Vienna”, said Ionuț Rusu.

BTarena is the largest multifunctional hall in Romania, with a capacity of 10,000 seats and which can organize basketball, handball, volleyball, tennis, boxing, gymnastics, martial arts or other contact sports competitions. The building has an underground car park with 443 spaces, equipped with an intelligent access system and several positions for charging electric cars.

The Multipurpose Hall in Cluj-Napoca bears, since 2017, the name BTarena, following the association contract with Banca Transilvania, the number 1 bank in Romania, the first of its kind in the country. The contract was extended, at the end of 2023, for another five years.
