College “CD Loga” Timisoara

More than 70 students and 12 teachers of the “CD Loga” National College in Timisoara have symptoms of intoxication. 15 students were hospitalized.

Yesterday, several students and employees of “CD Loga” College had abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea. 15 of the children who arrived at the Emergency last night were hospitalized at the “Louis Țurcanu” Children’s Hospital.

Today, the high school management decided to suspend classes, and the Timiş Public Health Directorate started an investigation, sending several teams in various fields of specialization (Public Health Control Service, Toxicology Laboratory and Radiation Laboratory). DSP Timiş specialists took water samples from both the public network and the dispensers in the school, their use being suspended until the results are obtained. In addition, sanitation samples were taken, both of the surface and of aeromicroflora, DSP Timiş officials also say. Also, the Timiș Emergency Situations Inspectorate sent the CBRN crew and six non-commissioned officers to the scene to identify a possible source of intoxication.

The situation raises even bigger questions in the context in which the high school has no canteen, the building is not connected to the gas network, and no disinfection/rat extermination has been done recently.
