The Metropolitan Belt of Cluj has become more expensive by 600,000 lei, being the second increase in costs since the start of discussions related to this much-needed project.

The costs for the realization of the metropolitan belt in Cluj-Napoca will be updated and have reached 8,658,973 thousand lei including VAT.

The local councilors from Cluj-Napoca will vote on Friday to update the technical-economic indicators for the investment objective “TRANSREGIO FELEAC TR35 ROAD – Stage I Metropolitan Belt TR35 and connecting roads”, approved and staggered in Phase I and Phase II by Government Decision no. 1315/2022, as updated by MTI Ministerial Order no. 1442/27.07.2023.

Phase one of the work will cost 6.1 billion lei, and phase two 2.5 billion lei. The project should be completed in 8 years.

Until now, only a “stump” of a few kilometers from the belt, from the N Bridge to the Regional Hospital in Florești, has been auctioned and awarded.

The rest of the project was put up for bid last year, but no one came forward. Under these conditions, the Boc administration decided to increase the amount allocated for this project by 150 million euros, in order to make everything more attractive for private companies.

For expropriations, the Government has allocated the sum of one billion lei, which was praised last year by Mayor Emil Boc. He has now announced that the payment of the expropriations will be made gradually and that in the first phase only the land in Florești will be paid.
