Adrian Mutu, humiliated last night in the Cup, in Hunedoara, one step away from leaving CFR Cluj-Napoca

--

Coach Adrian Mutu’s days on the bench of CFR Cluj-Napoca are numbered, after he shamefully lost last night’s Cup match with League 2 team Corvinul Hunedoara, score 0-4.

Corvinul, which is newly promoted to League 2, could have won even more clearly than that, if it had not missed other great scoring opportunities. CFR played with 10 men from the 11th minute, but even so the former champion has no excuse for last night’s embarrassing performance.

Thanks to yesterday’s victory, Corvinul Hunedoara qualified for the semifinals of the Romanian Cup. There he will meet the winner of the match between FCU Craiova (Mititelu) and FC Voluntari.

Immediately after the match, the CFR coach, Adrian Mutu, said that he felt humiliated, that his players have no excuse and that he will announce today whether he will resign or not.

Corvinul Hunedoara could leave Adrian Mutu without commitment

For Adrian Mutu, CFR Cluj-Napoca is the fourth consecutive team where it fails to achieve the expected results. The people of Cluj almost have no chance at the championship. The previous formations where Adrian Mutu had poor results are FCU Craiova, Rapid and Neftci Baku (Azerbaijan).

The last team coached by Adrian Mutu that had good results was the national youth team under 21 years of age. This had very good developments at the final tournament of the European Championship in Hungary/Slovenia, from 2021.
