Record collections from property taxes: in 3 months, 64% of the budget has already been collected

Collections of over 200 million lei were recorded by the Braşov Fiscal Directorate in the first three months of the year. The amount represents almost two thirds of the total estimated for this year, according to the director of the institution, Marian Voinescu.
“At the end of March, we did a budget execution and found that we have collected 200 million lei from the forecasted budget of 313 million lei, that is, somewhere around 64% of the budget has already been collected. Compared to last year, also in the first three months, this year we collected 23 million lei more”, Marian Voinescu informed. The high percentage of taxpayers who paid off their debts this year is due to the fact that, in the first three months, all those who paid the entire amount owed benefited from a ten percent discount. Thus, Friday was the last working day of March and the citizens of Brasov stormed the offices of the Tax Directorate. This although the last day on which the 10% discount was paid was Monday, April 1, due to the fact that March 31 was a non-working day. Because very few Brasov residents knew that they could pay one more day with the bonus established by the City Council, the offices of the Fiscal Directorate were empty on Monday.
