The strong wind is causing problems throughout Buzau County. Several trees were knocked down by the strong gusts, a utility pole fell onto the road and in other areas downed power lines caused dry vegetation fires.

The wind blowing at over 60 kilometers per hour started at lunchtime to cause material damage on the territory of Buzau County.

Thus, according to an information received from the Prefecture, two poplar trees fell on the road in the Amaru commune, which crews from ISU Prahova are in charge of clearing. In the town of Zoresti, the wind tore off a roof and affected the conductors of the electrical network.

In Cândêști, Vernești commune, a tree fell over the power line, causing a fire, and in Viperesti, a citizen’s yard was endangered by the imminent fall of a tree in a yard.

In Săseni, Vernești commune, and Pănătău there are fires of dry vegetation, in the first case being started from the electricity network. The dry grass was ignited by the sparks from the fallen wires. At the same time, the county road that connects Buzăul with the village of Pogonele was blocked in one direction, due to a communication pole that fell on the road.

In Smeeni, a dry tree was completely uprooted from the ground and blown by strong gusts over the fence of the household and the road. Fortunately, the tree did not fall on the house or any passing cars at the time of the fall.

During Tuesday, the firefighters from ISU Buzău had another mission to clear some masonry remains from the yard of a building in the municipality of Râmnicu Sărat. Up to the time of writing, no human casualties or destroyed cars have been reported.

In Glodeanu Sărat commune, an important vegetable basin, gusts of wind destroyed several solariums. The foil was frayed, and after the storm only the support posts remained. Some of the farmers had begun to establish crops in the protected areas.

The strong gusts caused damage to the electricity network, with power outages reported in more than 15 localities. Teams from Electrica intervene to resume the supply of electricity, the most complex mission being in Valea Râmnicului

A dust storm was reported by drivers, in Săhăteni, on DJ 103 R. Those driving on the road between Găgeni and Istrita de Jos crossed a good part of the road through a curtain of dust. In some sections, visibility was reduced due to windblown dust particles from the A7 motorway construction site.

These days, Saharan dust particles are found in our country, including in the region.
