The National Meteorological Administration has issued yellow and orange codes for gales and strong winds. The warnings apply to several regions.
A code orange warning was issued overnight. This applies to the counties of Bihor and Hunedoara and is valid on Tuesday, until 9:00 a.m. There will be strong intensification of the wind with speeds generally of 80…85 km/h, in some places stormy, meteorologists announce.
A second warning comes into effect at 8am on Tuesday and will be in effect until 6pm.
The wind will have sustained intensifications in the counties of Satu Mare, Sălaj, Maramureș, Cluj, Alba, Bistrița-Năsăud, Suceava, Neamț and Botoșani, and especially in the afternoon in the counties of Teleorman, Giurgiu, Ilfov and the municipality of Bucharest, Călărași, Ialomița, Prahova, Buzău, Brăila and the continental area of Constanța and Tulcea counties. There will be speeds in general of 80…85 km/h, and at high altitudes in mountainous areas, gusts will exceed 120 km/h.
These counties will be under a Code Orange warning, and the rest of the country will be under a Code Yellow warning.
Yellow code of wind and gale intensifications
Throughout Tuesday (April 2), until 22:00, the wind will have sustained intensifications throughout the country, with speeds of 55…65 km/h, and locally 70…80 km/h.
There will be storms in some places. In the high mountain area, gusts will exceed 90…110 km/h.
In the high mountain area, generally at altitudes above 1600 m, mixed precipitation will be reported, and in the Apuseni Mountains and in the north of the Eastern Carpathians, amounts of water of 10…20 l/m2 will accumulate.
RO-Alert: extreme weather
The people of Bihor were woken up, this morning, by a Ro-Alert message warning them to avoid traveling because strong intensification of the wind is coming.
The Ro-Alert information was sent as a result of the code orange wind and gale warning issued by the National Meteorological Administration.
The roof of a block of flats was torn off by the strong wind
“On the basis of the Orange Code – immediate weather phenomena, valid for Hunedoara County, between 6:35 and 9:00 a.m., the military firefighters have intervened up to this moment to manage the following emergency situations:
- the roof of a block in the town of Mintia was dislodged by the strong wind.
- two trees fell on the road in the towns of Vetel and Ilia;
- a tree fell on a car in the municipality of Deva, on Orizontului street.
No victims were registered”, announces ISU Hunedoara.
