The smallest city in Romania attracts tourists like a magnet, although it has just over 1,300 inhabitants. About 500,000 people visit this place every year.

It is about Băile Tușnad, a city that covers an area of 189 hectares.

It is located in Harghita county, approximately 30 km from Sfântu Gheorghe, 30 km from Miercurea Ciuc and 60 km from Brașov. Tourists are attracted by the ozonated air, but also by the panorama that offers a dream landscape.

Another factor that attracts visitors is the spa treatments at the resort. There are several treatment packages and recreational activities for those who come to Băile Tușnad.

These include thermal baths, outdoor sports and nature walks. The city is ideal for visitors who want to enjoy fresh air and relaxation.

The resort is located in the southern part of the Ciuc Depression, at an altitude of 650 meters, between the Harghita and Bodoc Mountains. The main water course is the Olt. One of the most famous tourist attractions is Lake Ciucaș, which is located right in the middle of the resort.

The Mineral Water Museum, Saint Ana Lake, the Cozmeni Village Museum and the Belvedere on Piatra Soimilor are other tourist attractions in the resort.

One of the youngest volcanic formations in the Carpathians is the Ciomad Massif. The highly ozonated air, which is rich in aerosols and negative ions, is ensured by the position of the resort in the territory, notes libertatea.ro.

The skunk is also found in this area, which represents the natural emanations of carbon dioxide and dry gas. They are related to volcanism in the area of the Eastern Carpathians and are used in spa treatments.

In fact, the skunk that is used in Romania, for therapeutic purposes, is a phenomenon never seen before in the world. The mineral resources of Băile Tușnad are the Stănescu, Apor and Mikes springs.

The spa activity in Băile Tușnad began as early as the second half of the 19th century. The first treatment base in the resort was created according to the projects of Bela Kuklai, having the initial name of “Ștefania”. Later, it changed to “Sfânta Ana”, being completed in 1890.

In the Băile Tușnad resort, several ailments can be treated, including those of the cardiovascular, digestive, nervous or endocrine systems. Physical and intellectual fatigue, high blood pressure and asthenic neurosis are just some of the conditions that visitors to the resort can treat.
