Tudor Drâmbărean, advisor and manager of transnational projects at the Alba-Iulia City Hall, spoke about the European projects implemented in Alba-Iulia. Among other things, such projects aim to reduce carbon emissions by 40% by 2030, compared to 2008. “We were nominated as a sustainable community by the Swiss Embassy in 2021, based on 79 performance indicators” recalled Tudor Drâmbărean, contextualizing the discussion about Alba-Iulia.

According to him, although we are talking about a city of 74,000 inhabitants, it is congested by more than 40,000 cars. Over 60% of energy consumption is for heating buildings and public and private transport in the city.

However, over 330 million euros were attracted here for the implementation of various projects, a large part for energy efficiency and mobility. “The sum represents at least 15 times the local budget, 1,500 jobs were created temporarily or permanently and would represent 5,000 euros/capita” Tudor Drâmbărean emphasized during the profile debate organized by DCMediaGroup, “Energy Forum 11th Edition: The transition to a green Romania, the challenges of the moment”.

“Of course, the mobility projects will change the face of the city” announces Drâmbărean, talking about a sustainable transport like in the cities of Western Europe. “In 2024, we are talking about 303,000,000 lei in the investment area alone,” the manager emphasized, adding that for every 1 lei from the local budget, another 4.58 lei were attracted from non-reimbursable funds. Through the PNRR, other large-scale “green” projects are being considered, with implementation until 2026.
