Timisoara has a week in which two of the important teams, CFR in futsal and SCM USV in rugby, play with trophies on the table. The first to enter the arena are the indoor soccer boys, and the rugby players have a match on the weekend.

In the Final Four of the 2023-2024 season of the Romanian Cup, the holder of the trophy, CSM Deva, participates, but also three teams that are in the premiere in this phase of the competition.

CSM Deva
It reached this stage of the competition after defeating Futsal Ceahlăul Piatra Neamț 9-4 in the round of 16, and in the quarter-finals it went 6-3 against the champion United Galați. The Hunedomen will meet Sepsi Sic Sfantu Gheorghe in the semifinals. In the matches played this season in the championship, CSM Deva prevailed 2-0 on Sepsi’s field, while in the return game, in their own hall, they won narrowly, 3-2.

CFR Timisoara
The host of the final tournament reached the semi-finals stage for the first time, after in the last two seasons it stopped in the round of 16, respectively in the quarter-finals. CFR qualified for the Final Four after defeating Keresztegy Remetea 5-1 in the round of 16, and in the previous stage of the competition they defeated FK Odorheiu Secuiesc 3-2 at the limit.

Timișoara hosts the final tournament of the Cup for the first time after 7 years. In 2017, Informatica Timișoara defeated in the penultimate act also a representative of Transylvania, City’us Târgu Mureș, and then defeated Autobrgamo Deva in the last act.

CFR will play against Mausoleum Mărășești, a team it defeated this season, 5-3 away, respectively 6-2 at home.

Sepsi SIC Sfantu Gheorghe
The team from Sfântu Gheorghe reached the final tournament of the Romanian Cup after beating Korondy Junior Corund 8-2 in the round of 16. In the quarter-finals, they also defeated a second league team, Inter Gheorghieni, with a score of 3-1.

Sepsi is the second representative of the city of Sfântu Gheorghe, who reaches the semi-finals of the Romanian Cup, after Spicom. This formation performed in the penultimate act of the knock-out competition 10 years ago, when it reached the final after defeating Futsal Klub Odorheiu Secuiesc in a double leg, 6-5 and 9-1 respectively.

Mărășești Mausoleum
The team from Vrancea is also making its first appearance at the final tournament of the Romanian Cup. The mausoleum reached the semifinals after defeating former first division Clujana Cluj 5-0 in the round of 16. In the quarterfinals, Mărășeștiul defeated CSM Târgu Mureș 5-1. The group from Mărășești is the second representative of Vrancea to play a semi-final of the Cup. The first was CSM Focsani in the 2010-2011 season, when in the penultimate act this team lost 6-2 away to CSM Târgu Mureș, and in the home match they were defeated 4-1.

Returning to this year’s Romanian Cup Final Tournament, it takes place on April 2 and 3.

The semi-finals are scheduled for Tuesday according to the following schedule:
15:30: Sepsi SIC Sfantu Gheorghe – CSM Deva
18:00: Mărășești Mausoleum – CFR Timișoara

The final takes place on Wednesday, between the winners of the semifinals, at 5 p.m.
