The Minister of Digitization announces that the new salary scale for Romanian Post employees will be ready in a few days at most

The Minister of Research and Digitization Bogdan Ivan spoke, on Digi24, about the problems that led to the general strike at the Romanian Post Office, as a result of which millions of pensioners could suffer, because they risk receiving their pensions later. The minister announced that they are working “on some realistic scenarios related to the salary increase, which should be as close as possible to what the trade unionists are asking for”. The new salary scale will be ready in a short time, a few days at most, the minister said.

“First of all there is a lack of trust between the unions and the management of the company. At the moment, after last week, including until late Saturday evening, we had discussions with the representatives of the unions and with those of the Board of Directors and the management of the company, at our ministry we agreed on the form of the collective labor agreement and we agreed on increased salary scales, because people really need additional income, because they do very important work. From this point of view, I want to tell you that everyone agrees with this principle. Furthermore, the revenue that must increase at the company is an attribute that also belongs to the company’s management. From the perspective of the ministry, we came with all the support for finding some solutions in this direction and now we are working on some scenarios as realistic as possible related to the salary increase, which should be as close as possible to what the trade unionists are asking for.

We are talking about how these things will be calculated, how they will be optimized and now we are making scenarios, technical calculations on the entire salary scale to stop as many employees as possible and to get closer to that threshold of 400 lei net. We are talking about net amounts.

We are talking about approximately 17,000 employees who will have, at least theoretically, this increase and from the point of view of how they will be calculated, I repeat, it is a very complex salary for 22,000 people. We are looking for optimization of salary increase in a unitary format, so that there is no discrimination between people who hold the same position, perform the same work and have different incomes,” said Bogdan Ivan.

The Minister of Digitization says that this grid will be ready in a short time, a few days at most.

“Also in the shortest possible time. Hours, maximum days. From my point of view, what I have assumed is to be the link between management and the unions, because at the moment there is this lack of trust, but I think that eventually a solution will be found, because people are open to dialogue both from the perspective of the employees, and from the perspective of the company’s management,” specified Ivan.
