In the first days of May, we will experience quite warm, but changeable weather in some regions. Rains will not be missing from the landscape, especially in the southern and southwestern half of the country.

The week starts with mostly calm and warm spring weather, with highs around 20 – 25°C. The situation changes, however, in the second part of the week, with the advance of an atmospheric depression from the west, which will force the anticyclone previously over Romania to retreat to the north.

The good news is that this area of high pressure will not retreat immediately, so from 1 May we will still enjoy fine and pleasant weather across much of the country, even if there will be more clouds in the sky and temperatures will drop slightly compared to previous days.

In the afternoon, the thermometers will show between 18 and 24°C. In the northern half of the country, it will be warmer and sunnier than in the south, where some local rain is forecast. Also, the wind will be quite strong in the south of Banat, with gusts of 50-70 km/h.

On Thursday, the rains will cover some areas in the south-eastern part of Romania, but also restricted areas in the other regions. The distribution of precipitation will also be influenced by local convergence mechanisms, which are harder to predict accurately by weather models, meaning that forecasts can still change quite a bit for some localities.

The weather radar shows rain forecast for Thursday, May 2 at noon.

However, there will also be sunny periods, and temperatures will be similar or slightly lower than Wednesday’s due to precipitation and cloudy skies. Also, the wind will have some intensifications in the north and southeast, with gusts of 40-60 km/h.

A new wave of precipitation is expected towards the end of the week, mainly affecting the south-western half of the country. Locally, the amounts of water may exceed 20 – 30 l/m2 until Friday evening. Temperatures will range between 15°C in some areas of the south-west and just above 25°C in the west.

Unfortunately, the weather on the coast will not be too nice in the next few days. Temperatures will be lower than in the other regions, thanks to the cold wind that will blow from the sea, and the chances of rain will be higher.
