No laptop at the cafe – this is the rule imposed by more and more patrons in Cluj-Napoca. Working on the computer spoils the atmosphere in the premises, and the receipts decrease. While many residents of Cluj are outraged by the new measure imposed by the employers, some say that they do not understand those who complain about this situation.

“Is it just me, or do you also think it’s stupid that there are still people ranting nonsense on social media that they were asked to turn off their laptops in certain locations in Cluj.

How, when you leave the country, and you are told in a location to close your laptop, it’s ok, but if the waiter in Cluj asks you to close your laptop, it means that you have crossed the limit of shamelessness/abuse.

Why don’t you do your research before you see whether or not you can stay with your laptop in a certain location? Why is it still ok to go to a cafe and sit for 5 hours on a flat white?”, sent an internet user on the reddit.com platform.

So the new rule has divided customers into two camps. While some are outraged by the restrictions, others say that it’s not normal to “work” at the bar by ordering a coffee for hours.

Despite the negative opinions, many patrons say that sales have increased, and warning posters have appeared on walls and tables in Cluj cafes.
