Moldovans are not second-class citizens of Romania and any day with Marcel Ciolacu still in the position of prime minister is an insult to Iaşi and Moldova, claims the president of the CJ Iaşi, Costel Alexe, quoted in a press release of the PNL Iaşi remis, on Saturday , Agerpres.

“As the president of the Iaşi County Council and a representative of the community, I feel obliged to respond to the Prime Minister of Romania, Marcel Ciolacu, to the statement he made regarding the North-East region, namely ‘Buzăul is not in Moldova and please don’t offend me’. Mr. Prime Minister, Moldovans are not second-class citizens, we are not Bucharest’s poor relative, nor do we owe anything for projects that belong to us. Stop directing government funds only to PSD fiefdoms, where you have an electoral interest in winning votes! We, in Iasi and in Moldova, demand what is due to us because this region paid too much tribute to PSD and was elected only with contempt and disillusionment”, says Costel Alexe.

He claims that “any day with Marcel Ciolacu as prime minister is an insult to Moldova”.

“I firmly believe that any day with Marcel Ciolacu still in the position of prime minister is an insult to Iasi and Moldova, for the treatment we have been subjected to in these years and for the completely rude statement made in front of an entire country: ‘Buzăul no he’s in Moldova and please don’t offend me’. I would have been extremely happy to find in these years an honest partnership with the Prime Minister of Romania, Marcel Ciolacu, to really unlock the major objectives for Iasi that belong to the ministries and the Government of Romania, but, unfortunately, we all saw that, permanently , project after project, Iaşi is discriminated against and unfairly cut from the list of priorities, whether we are talking about the project of the Regional Institute of Cardiovascular Medicine, or whether we are talking about the bypass belt of the city of Iaşi, the belt from Podu Iloaiei, the Polyvalent Hall, the new stadium, Hospital for Respiratory Diseases. All are mature and feasible projects, but kept in the drawer only because there is a liberal administration here,” Costel Alexe also states.

In the opinion of the president of the CJ Iaşi, Marcel Ciolacu showed contempt for Moldovans by the statement he made.

“I thought I could have an honest partnership with the Prime Minister of Romania, until yesterday, when I saw, with dismay, the contempt his lordship displays towards Moldovans”, said Costel Alexe, quoted in the PNL Iaşi press release.
