Safe Catholic Easter
Firefighters will be on duty this weekend as Catholics celebrate Easter. Their mission is to ensure an efficient and quick response in case of emergency situations.
Every day, fire crews will be prepared to intervene to extinguish fires, rescue people involved in various serious events that may endanger their lives and provide emergency medical assistance.
On Resurrection Night and Sunday, the Easter light will burn in the home of Catholic believers. To prevent fires, we recommend observing the following measures:
- make sure that the candle is in a vertical position and that it is fixed in a specially designed support, so that it does not fall or run drops of hot wax;
- don’t leave candles burning if you have to leave the room. It is best to extinguish them to avoid a fire occurring in your absence;
- always place candles on a smooth, heat-resistant surface;
- do not put lit candles very close to everything that can easily ignite (furniture, curtains, newspapers, etc.) or in places where children and animals can reach, so as not to knock them over and cause fires;
- don’t lean over candles because your hair or clothes could catch fire;
- always blow out candles before moving them;
- don’t fall asleep with candles burning.
