“School after School”: from the local budget, 20 lei/day/pupil

The Brasov Local Council approved in the April 25 meeting the “Regulation regarding the implementation and financing of the “School after School” Program in state pre-university education units in the Municipality of Brasov”, a project that has been discussed for a long time at the local deliberative level.
One of the novelties established by this regulation is the coverage of some costs from the local budget. In the initial form of the project, proposed by the mayor of Brasov, Allen Coliban, the amounts from the local budget would have been allocated only to students who benefit from the social scholarship, but, during the plenary session, at the initiative of the local councilor Pamela Diaconu, it was adopted an amendment according to which the amounts from the local budget will be granted for all students enrolled in the “School after School” Program.
Thus, according to the final form of the regulation approved by the Local Council, the amount of 20 lei/day/pupil will be settled from the local budget. Also, from the local budget, the necessary amounts will be allocated to cover staff expenses for 2 hours of the program, the difference to be covered by the parents.
The regulation does not cover a specific period, however, as the representatives of Braşov City Hall said during the meeting of Commission no. 4 of the Braşov Local Council (education, culture), in the approved form, the program could be implemented in the 2024-2025 school year.
At the same time, settlement will be made only for schools that run “School by School” programs in their own organization.
