The representatives of the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) Neamţ carried out a reconnaissance at the Bicaz dam, following a low-intensity earthquake that occurred in the area on Thursday.
“As a result of the occurrence of an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.3 ml, at a depth of 12.9 km in Neamţ county, intervention forces and means were sent to the field, in each intervention district to check possible damages. SVSU performs checks to identify possible effects produced at the level of each UAT. (…) A reconnaissance was carried out in the area of the Bicaz Dam by a crew from the Piatra-Neamţ Detachment and a specialist from the Operational Center”, declared the spokesperson of ISU Neamţ, lieutenant Irina Popa.
Prefect Adrian Vasile Niţă specified that he requested the management of Hidroelectrica to communicate the values recorded by the existing seismograph in the dam and whether this hydrographic construction was affected in any way.
“There are no reasons to panic”, emphasized prefect Adrian Vasile Niţă.
According to ISU Neamţ, so far no calls to 112 have been received to report damage or people who would require medical care.
