The suspects were detained following two operations that took place in Cluj-Napoca and were later arrested by the Bihor Court.

In the first of the two cases of DIICOT Oradea, three people were sent behind bars and were caught on the evening of March 25, 2023. Răzvan Nicolae Popa, Andrei Lucian Popa and Marius Raul Ferenti “procured, possessed, handled and sold the amount of 600 grams of psychoactive substance (2-CMC) for the amount of 21,000 lei. Also, another 600 grams of psychoactive substance (2-CMC), intended for sale, were found on one of them”, the DIICOT prosecutors said.

One of the three, Marius Ferenti, has a history of trafficking in prohibited substances. In 2022, he was sentenced by the Alba Court to 2 years and 2 months in prison with suspension for continuous high-risk drug trafficking (22 material documents), to which was added a criminal fine of 1,200 lei collected in the same year by at the Constanța Court.

The fourth suspect was detained one evening later, also in Cluj-Napoca. Dan Gabriel Dăncuș was caught in the act “immediately after allegedly selling 1.5 kilograms of a crystalline substance with a psychoactive effect (2-CMC), for 21,000 lei”, said anti-drug police officers from BCCO Oradea. Dăncuș still has an 8-month suspended prison sentence, given by the Cluj-Napoca Court in 2021, for driving under the influence of alcohol.

The investigators from Oradea stated that the actions to catch the four suspects benefited from the support of the policemen from the Cluj Napoca Organized Crime Brigade and the support of the Special Operations Directorate from the Romanian Police.
