Liberal Ilie Bolojan decided to separate from his wife, with whom he has two daughters, when he was still mayor of Oradea.

The divorce between Ilie and Florentina Bolojan ends a marriage that started in the 90s, since the second year of studentship. Their love gave birth to two successful girls, both very smart. As much as he was publicized as a politician, mostly in the local press, the information about the mayor’s personal life was so “thin”. As Florentina Bolojan is a serious and discreet person, who only appeared in public when her husband took the oath of office, little was known about the relationship between the two.

The courts’ portal showed that the divorce file of the Bolojans had been registered on February 25, and the first appearance was brought forward, quickly, even by him for March 12, a sign that the litigation will end quickly, by agreement of the parties. Given that both spouses decided not to make any statements about the divorce, the only detail that could be noted is that the process was not initiated by the spouse, but, on the contrary, by the mayor.

Even if the two hid from the world, the city’s curiosity remained high, especially since in the backstage of politics and on the front page of the newspapers, Bolojan is abundantly accused of adultery. The rumors were known and those close to the family say that the coldness between the spouses actually dates back to the end of the first term of mayor, and those around them wondered if he would join the race for another term of mayor.

Who is Ilie Bolojan?

Ilie Gavril Bolojan is a Romanian politician, former mayor of the city of Oradea for 3 terms (2008-2020). In the 2020 elections, he was elected president of the Bihor County Council, PNL obtaining the majority of votes (61.5%) from the Council.

Since 1993 he has been a member of the PNL. Between 1996-2004 he was a local councilor of the city of Alesd, and from 2004 a member of the Bihor County Council. Between 2005-2007 he was prefect of Bihor county, and during 2007-2008 he was secretary general of the Government. Among the most significant changes produced as a result of Ilie Bolojan’s initiatives, one can count the obtaining of the passport, the criminal and tax record certificates or the car registration certificates in just a few hours.

Ilie Bolojan was designated as the candidate of the National Liberal Party for the Oradea City Hall in the local elections of 2008, and on June 1, 2008 he was elected mayor of the Oradea municipality, with 50.3% of the votes. The establishment of the mayor from the first round of voting was a first for Oradea, after the Romanian revolution of 1989. In the 2012 and 2016 elections, Ilie Bolojan was re-elected mayor. He won his third term as mayor on June 5, 2016, with 70.95% of the vote.
