ALFIL Pitesti Chess Club, performance in the sport of the mind

For many people, chess is a way of thinking, living and developing. The sport of the mind is a perfect way for everyone to escape from everyday life. The municipality of Pitesti can boast of a national chess club for 18 years and we refer here to the ALFIL Pitesti Chess Club. Founded in 2006, the chess club has overcome countless barriers, now reaching a number of over 200 members, many of them collecting medals at national competitions. The foundations of the chess club were laid 18 years ago by the renowned doctor, Ovidiu Stancu, who is a true chess enthusiast. With a lot of work and effort, the club from Pitesti has developed remarkably, now the foundations have been laid for some competitions in the online environment, precisely for this superb sport to become more and more popular.

Dozens of medals over the past year

Dozens of medals were obtained by ALFIL Pitesti athletes in the competitions held during the last year. In total, 22 medals were collected, whether we are talking about team competitions or different types of chess, classic, blitz or untying. To the joy of doctor Ovidiu Stancu, many children come to learn the secrets of this sport. The instructor Andrei Rădulescu is also a man who puts a lot of soul into everything this club means and the game of chess itself, and together with doctor Ovidiu Stancu they contributed fully to this impressive leap made by the club from Pitesti.
