SEARCHES BY THE CAPITAL POLICE IN A CASE OF CLASSIFIED THEFT, ATTEMPT TO CLASSIFIED ROBBERY, CONCEALING AND PROSTITUTION

On March 27, 2024, the officers of the General Directorate of Police of the Municipality of Bucharest – Police Section 14 executed 3 home search warrants, and 8 arrest warrants, in the Municipality of Bucharest and Ilfov County, in a criminal case of qualified theft , attempted robbery, concealment and pimping, thus causing the victims a loss of over 33,000 lei.

From the data and evidence administered in the case, the reasonable assumption resulted that, in the period November 2023 – present, several men, aged between 22 and 38, through advertisements posted online, under the pretext of offering sexual services , would have attracted the injured persons to the homes they had rented in the Capital.

At the same time, the men in question, disguised as women, would have taken advantage of the victims’ inattention and stolen several sums of money, as well as several precious metal jewelry and a mobile phone.

Also, on February 23, 2024, after having provided the services requested by the victim, one of the suspects would have entered her home, located in Ilfov county, without the right, and through physical violence, would have tried to kidnap her another sum of money, along with a 26-year-old man.

Following the searches, several items of interest were identified and seized.

The suspected persons were taken to the headquarters of the police sub-unit for questioning. Thus, five men were detained for 24 hours, to be presented to the magistrates with a legal proposal.

The investigations are continued by the police officers of the 14th Police Department, under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the District 4 Court, in terms of the crimes of aggravated theft, attempted aggravated robbery, concealment and pimping.

The action benefited from the support of the Special Operations Directorate within the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police, as well as the support of the Special Actions Service.

We make it clear that the home search is a stage in the criminal process regulated by the Code of Criminal Procedure, which aims to administer the evidence necessary to solve the case, which cannot, under any circumstances, defeat the principle of the presumption of innocence. His internment is ordered.
