The Constanța branch of the Romanian Academy of Scientists in collaboration with the “Ovidius” University of Constanța (UOC) – Faculty of Natural Sciences and Agricultural Sciences, organized a cultural and scientific event. The organizer of this volume launch meeting was Dr. engineer Dumitru Manole, a former student of university professor Cristian Hera in the 60s.

The audience was varied “the old guard”, as stated by Marius Skolka – dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Agricultural Sciences, and the new generation that will take the field of agriculture forward.

The purpose of the event was the presentation of the volumes: “Long-term experiences with fertilizers – 55 years in Romania”, dedicated to academician Cristian Hera, on his 90th birthday, published by the Romanian Academy Publishing House, and “Engineer Dr. Dumitru Manole. The vocation of scientific communion with the Dobrogean field”, authors: Valentin Ciorbea, Luminița Stelian, published by the Publishing House of the Romanian Academy of Scientists.

Victor Ciupina, former rector of the largest university in Constanta, declared that the institution where the presentation of these volumes took place “is the most important university on the Black Sea”. The objective was to pay tribute to two great personalities, Cristian Hera – agronomist engineer and Dumitru Manole – PhD engineer and to present the previously mentioned volumes.

“This country has a future and it is very good, especially in such a difficult field as agriculture,” said Valentin Ciorbea – university professor, at the meeting in the Senate Hall. Therefore, he was pleasantly surprised by the presence of students in such a large number.

Marius Skolka informs the students that “university means more than courses, seminars, sessions and vacations”.

Cristian Hera was not present in the room, but through the airwaves he shared positive thoughts about the field of agriculture, through a short video. Over the years, he obtained 13 Doctor Honoris Causa titles, from different universities in the country and abroad. “In 2008, I had the honor and honor to also receive that of the “Ovidius” University in Constanța, on the recommendation of Professor Adrian Bavaru and Professor Victor Ciupina”, declared the academician.

When the volume “Long-term experiences with fertilizers – 55 years in Romania” appeared, Dumitru Manole was among the few famous farmers who ordered 100 copies directly from the Publishing House of the Romanian Academy, which were later offered to the “Ovidius” University so that students have a solid foundation of training. However, he was not only dedicated to agriculture in his unit, but was interested in expanding the favorable results in the “land of the sun, Dobrogea”.

Dumitru Manole offers the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Agricultural Sciences a research point in Amzacea, on an area of 10 hectares, without irrigation conditions. The purpose of this proposal is for students to have the opportunity to experience what they have learned over the years.

“It was a very interesting event for us students from this specialization faculty. Certainly the proposal launched by Dr. engineer Dumitru Manole will be an opportunity for all of us if it is accepted”, says a fourth-year student from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Agricultural Sciences – “Ovidius” University.

Valentin Ciorbea also presented the volume “Engineer Dr. Dumitru Manole. The vocation of scientific communion with the Dobrogean field”. This book was produced in a bilingual edition and is the result of a colloquial meeting between Luminița Stelian and Valentin Ciorbea. The cover of the book is closely related to its content, being represented by a specific photo of Dumitru Manole in a field with sunflowers.
