The commune of Săcelu has extraordinary potential, thanks to the mud baths with recognized therapeutic properties. It could become a tourist center of interest, but the lack of investments blocks this development, believes Adrian Zorlescu, the candidate of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians for the position of president of the Gorj County Council.
“A desolating picture is taking shape in Săcelu. The sludge treatment base building, meant to enhance the area’s natural resources, lies defunct and abandoned. The summer theater, a symbol of cultural life, stands in disrepair. The unpaved roads make access difficult and affect the daily life of the residents, and the sports base cannot be used due to legal problems and its deplorable condition. The consequences are serious. The authorities’ lack of any concern for the rehabilitation of the human dispensary, lacking a heating source, endangers people’s health. This picture of degradation discourages investors, keeping the area stuck in a vicious cycle of underdevelopment. The residents of Săcelu are dissatisfied and frustrated by the inaction of the authorities. The commune urgently needs a change, a competent and responsible local leadership. Only through civic involvement and the election of dedicated leaders can the enormous touristic and therapeutic potential of the area be harnessed, transforming Săcelu into a prosperous and attractive locality,” says Zorlescu.
