Raiffeisen – announcement to customers in Romania. A monthly limit appears

Raiffeisen Bank Romania announces that, from April 8, for currency exchange operations carried out during Smart Hour, it will apply a monthly limit of 10,000 euros (or equivalent).

The total amount of Smart Hour currency exchange transactions carried out during a calendar month cannot exceed 10,000 euros (or equivalent). Outside the Smart Hour or if the limit of 10,000 euros (or equivalent) is reached, the application screen will display the currency exchange rate applicable to the transaction and the customer will be able to choose whether or not to perform and confirm the currency exchange at the rate displayed.

In 2019, Raiffesien Bank introduced in Romania Smart Hour, an offer in which customers can for one hour a day, from Monday to Friday, benefit from currency exchange at the BNR rate, as part of efforts to promote its new mobile banking and internet banking applications, respectively Smart Mobile and Raiffeisen Online.

Raiffeisen Bank registered a profit of 1.7 billion lei in Romania last year (+39%), with total assets exceeding the threshold of 70 billion lei, an increase of 13% compared to the previous year.

Total revenues increased by 16% in 2023 compared to 2022, reaching the level of 3.7 billion lei, while operating expenses increased by 10%.

The balance of net loans exceeds 40.7 billion lei, increasing by 3% year on year, mainly from the corporate customer segments.

On average, during the year 2023, more than 40% of the mortgage loans granted to natural persons were “green” loans.

Loans to corporations increased by 8% year-on-year, while loans to SMEs increased by 7%. Deposits from customers increased by 10% to 54 billion lei.

The capital adequacy ratio stands at 21.4%, above the minimum level required by the BNR of 17.4%. Non-performing exposures remained at low levels of 1.6% and the liquidity position (liquidity coverage ratio, LCR) was at a comfortable level (267%), above the minimum regulatory requirements (100%) .

The bank also reports a four-fold increase in the number of accounts opened through the digital application and a two-fold increase in consumer loans granted through the mobile application.

Payments with Raiffeisen cards increased by 15%, and the number of e-commerce transactions increased by 30% and by 22% in terms of volumes.

Google Pay, launched in April 2023, already has more than 100,000 customers, with a quarterly increase in transaction volumes of 60%.

Compared to the year 2022, trading through digital wallets has increased by more than 60% in both trading volume and transaction value, and the number of customers using this payment method has increased by 36%.

Raiffeisen has over 2.2 million customers in Romania, 4,800 employees in 284 units, 1,131 ATMs & MFMs and over 27,800 POS.
