The Ministers of Education and Culture come to Sibiu to award the students who were postponed last year. The organization is five times cheaper

Ligia Deca and Raluca Turcan, together with priest Constatin Necula and general Ghiță Bârsan, are part of the guests of the Gala of performance in pre-university education. An event that stood out, at the last edition, also due to the high costs of organization.

The event in which diplomas and cash prizes are offered to students who obtained results in the competitions of the school year 2022-2023 is announced for Friday, March 29, 2024, at Sala Thalia, starting at 13:00. At the same time, teachers whose students achieved results will also be rewarded.

“In this event, 246 students and 97 teachers will be awarded, the total value of the prizes being 170,500 lei, an amount provided from the local budget of Sibiu County. Among the guests who confirmed their presence are Ligia Deca, Minister of Education, Raluca Turcan, Minister of Culture, Gen. Ghiță Bârsan, rector of the “Nicolae Bălcescu” Land Forces Academy, father Constantin Necula. At the same time, the CJ of Sibiu sent invitations to Sibiu parliamentarians, county councilors and the Prefect of Sibiu County”, says an announcement by the Sibiu County Council.

The event was originally scheduled for December of last year, but was postponed at the last moment due to budgetary restrictions. As a colorful detail, on the day when the CJ of Sibiu announced the cancellation due to “measures approved by the Government regarding the reduction of budget expenses”, Raluca Turcan participated in a similar event in Bucharest, while the Sibiu City Hall organized a gala for students a week later.

Cheaper organization

The gala scheduled at the end of this week became the subject of the press due to the sums allocated for its organization. A year ago, Turnul Sfatului showed that in order to reward students and teachers with 126,000 lei for the results of 2021-2022, the Sibiu County Council concluded a contract for the organization of the event with a value of 90,000 lei, including VAT. Elements of visual identity, sparkling wine, screen and direction were among the expenses included in the estimate at the time.

At this year’s Gala, the contract for organizing the event was also entrusted to Ariete Management, but for a much smaller amount: 19,000 lei.
