UMF Cluj managed to obtain a financing of 11 million euros for the rehabilitation of the Anatomie building, in the courtyard of the Cluj County Clinical Hospital.
The University and the North-West Regional Development Agency signed the financing contract for the implementation of the modernization and rehabilitation project of the Anatomie building, located on str. Clinicilor no. 3-5.
The project is implemented by UMF “Iuliu Hațieganu” through the North-West Regional Program 2021-2027, Priority 6 – “An educated Europe”, and the non-refundable funding comes from the European Regional Development Fund. It will be implemented in the next 5 years and has a total value of over 11 million euros, of which the Management Authority for the Northwest Regional Program grants almost 6.6 million euros.
The general objective of the project is to improve equal access to quality services in education, training and learning within the “Iuliu-Hațieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy Cluj-Napoca, by carrying out works to modernize, rehabilitate and equip the Anatomy building.
The Anatomy Building is functional and is part of the University Clinics complex on Clinicilor street, dating from 1900-1904, being included in the List of Historical Monuments from 2015. Currently, students and teaching staff from the Departments of Forensic Medicine, Pathological Anatomy and Human Anatomy.
This place has special emotional significance for any student who steps on its history-laden steps. It is the first contact of future doctors with the beautiful, but so difficult path of the profession, through the anatomy courses and practical dissection works, which open the first year. It is the building where students learn pathological anatomy, one of the most difficult subjects, but so important for the medical career and at the same time, the building where the students, at the end of the 6 years of study, pass the exam in the discipline of forensic medicine.
