Respiratory viruses are increasing slightly, say the representatives of the Sibiu Public Health Directorate. According to them, in the last week of reporting, there is an increase of 72 cases (from 1,336 to 1,408) and keeping the same characteristics as in the previous week, i.e., about 62% of cases occurred at active ages (5-49 years) and a small number of admissions (40), of which over half (24) in the 0-4 years group.

The number of pneumonias maintains the upward trend, from 427 cases to 512. Most were reported in the 15-49 age group (147) and the elderly over 65, with 124 illnesses. The number of admissions also remained high, with 166 people requiring hospitalization, most of whom were over 65 (62 interns).

Regarding flu cases, they continue to decrease. 9 cases were reported, up from 15 the previous week, with 4 admissions and 2 PCR confirmations.

From the beginning of the season (week 40, 2 – 8.10.2023) and until 24.03.2024 were reported, in total:

– 858 cases of influenza (113 PCR confirmed)
– 47490 IACRS cases
– 10863 pneumonias
